Who you are:
- A versatile engineer with a proven track record in developing AI-powered applications and a strong understanding of both frontend and backend.
- Experienced with AI/ML principles and their application in real-world scenarios, comfortable working across various AI models and data processing frameworks.

Responsibilities: Design and implement scalable AI inference infrastructure to support our diverse application suite.Develop and maintain API gateways for seamless integration between cloud-based APIs and self-hosted AI solutions.Ensure 99.9% uptime of AI services, maintaining API quality under load.Independently plan and coordinate infrastructure capacity with the team in anticipation of high-traffic events such as product launches.Quickly adapt and integrate new open-source AI technologies from academic or research-quality code into production-ready solutions.Implement robust authentication and user metering systems using Supabase and JWTs.Conduct thorough cost analysis for AI inference solutions, preparing detailed reports for leadership decision-making.Source, set up, and maintain GPU server resources autonomously from third-party providers. Constantly be mindful of cost-effectiveness, ensuring best performance in production that aligns business performance for the company.• Expertise in building applications leveraging LLMs, with an understanding of performance, latency, and deployment considerations.• Knowledge of secure deployment practices and robustness against prompt injection.Establish a responsive system to identify and rectify downtime incidents through automation, ensuring minimal user and team disruption.

Skills:
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Python server development, specifically with FastAPI or Flask.
• At least 3 years of proven experience in orchestrating auto-scaling serverless infrastructure.
• A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with deploying open-source AI technologies.
• Proficiency in bash scripting and command-line tools such as curl, dig, ssh, and node.
• Demonstrated expertise in continuous integration and infrastructure automation techniques.
• Strong skills in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting server dependencies.
• Regular use of Github Copilot and ChatGPT to streamline development workflows.

Compensation
Total compensation commensurate with experience, balanced between:
- Base salary, equity, shared company housing, utilities, shared (healthy) grocery budget and work travel covered
- We are willing to assist with visas for the right fit
Given seed funding rond was just closed in December 2023, we are “pre-perks” - we don’t yet have formal PTO policy or Health Insurance package, but chatGPT subscriptions(after all, attention is all you need 🙂).
About the interview
The interview process is a deeper dive into technical abilities, product thinking and overall fit. For the “fit” portion, we are again looking for ownership and autonomy, but we also dig deeper into communication. This is evaluated throughout the process -- in how you communicate your approach, solutions and overall thinking.
- Initial meeting - 20 minutes with Adrian (CEO) Chat about Upstreet & any relevant experience you might have.
- Talk Tech - 15+ minutes with Adrian (possibly a Technical Lead) - might immediately lead to a Technical Assignment or 20~30 minute technical Interview on the spot
- Paid work trial, 7 days. In-Person, in:
- We’re SF from Saturday 16th to March 24th
- From March 25th until April 30th we’ll be in Miami
- Housing/Work travel costs covered, we share a healthy grocery budget as well.
- Official Offer - in-person thereafter.
